Helping optical accounts understand our product
A big thank you to Dave Newbauer for turning Vision Care Associates around in Aberdeen, S.D. Dave noticed that they were putting their Fitovers® Eyewear products on a board with other products. They thought they were doing well, but they only had 8 frames, with three styles and, even worse, 2 colors. Dave also found out that some of the opticians in the store were under the impression that you...

Eye fatigue in the workplace
Not that this will be news for many of you, but staring at a computer screen for long periods of time is hard on the eyes. As an increasing number of jobs require employees to do “near work”, often on a computer, many are experiencing signs of CVS, or, Computer Vision Syndrome. CVS is described in the medical-dictionary as a “condition linked to prolonged computer monitor use;...

Ad Placement
When advertising in a publication there are many factors to consider.  1/2 page ad or full page. Inside cover, back cover, or somewhere in the middle. Color or black and white, and any other number of options, each giving you some degree of control over how your ad will be viewed by the people who read the publication.  One thing you don’t have much control over, is what article your ad will...

Have you tried our dealer locator?
The Fitovers® Eyewear dealer locator is an invaluable tool available to our consumers.  When it comes to an accessory like Fitovers® Eyewear, sometimes it’s best to get to know the product personally.  The dealer locator allows consumers to find a store near them that carries our product, and enables them to go and see the product in person.  Although we provide a printable size guide and a...

Take a look at the world through our rose colored...
As some of you might have noticed, we have a brand new lens tint now available.  It’s the PDX™ Roadster lens that we developed as the perfect driving lens.  This lens provides increased contrast, brightening and enhancing vision while boosting depth perception. We knew that the lens would become popular; driving and Fitovers® Eyewear products have always gone hand in hand.  But, I have to...

Jack Waldrop wins fishing tournament with...
The lake was a mess.  Consecutive days of rain had clouded lake water with dirt and sediment and had lake levels abnormally high.  Visibility was horrible.  Not the ideal conditions for catching fish, yet this is what over 200 teams faced at the Bass Champs Central Region season opener in February on Lake Belton in Texas. Jack Waldrop and Hub Bechtol were able to overcome these conditions and...

Going Global
This was an article that ran in the January issue of Tackle Trade World, a international fishing magazine.  The article highlights some of the key components of our new direct to dealer program, intended for dealers outside of the U.S.  I thought I’d share it here for all to enjoy. Expanding your market globally is a huge task but, if you’re smart, there are things you can do to make...

How to use the Fitovers™ Size Guide
One of the best tools that we have created to help ensure that consumers are finding the right pair of Fitovers™ Eyewear product for them is our size guide. If you go into any Fitovers™ Eyewear dealer, they will have a copy of our size guide inside our catalog. They might even have some of our consumer brochures that you can take home with you, which have a size guide on the back. This simple...

Near Sightedness on the rise
There was an interesting story on NPR this morning about the rise of Myopia, or near sightedness.  Apparently, since the 70’s, cases of Myopia among persons aged 15-54 have risen.  In the 70’s about a quarter of those surveyed were Myopic, compared to 40.6 percent of those surveyed from 1999 to 2004, which is an increase of about 66 percent!  The rise is generally linked to an increase...

The Year in Review
The year isn’t over quite yet, but it’s getting close, so we’re going to take a look back and see what (and how) we did.  It’s interesting for me to look back over the years sales and see which products were the most popular for that year.  You can learn a lot from looking at that data.  As you most likely know, we have ten different frame styles to choose from, and each...

Decisions, Decisions, Decisions...
When the concept of Fitovers™ was first hatched over 15 yeas ago, we felt we were providing the public with a great solution to a common problem.  What should people who wear prescription eye glasses use to protect their eyes from the sun?  Fitovers™ Eyewear was born and the Fitovers™ were an instant hit, but the options available to the general public were limited.  We had attempted to create a...

Customer Feedback
Reviews from the people that matter most. You. Thanks for the Fitover glasses. I wore them on the beach in Mexico while sitting in the shade reading and was amazed at the clarity of the lenses. Even more amazing was wearing the glasses as I walked down the beach in full sunlight. The Polarizing gave me a clear view of the ocean and beach colors that I had never seen before with my regular...

A Lens For Every Situation
Provide your patients with the options they need When it comes to a quality pair of sunglasses, no element is more important that the lenses. When someone puts on a pair of sunglasses it becomes immediately apparent to the wearer if they are wearing a quality product or not. They will put on the sunglasses and experience visual clarity, or not, and if not then they know that the product is not...

The Theory of Optical Relativity
Duality Eyewear™ is a new concept we have been working on for the past couple of years.  Our idea was to provide our customers with all their essential eyewear needs in one package.  We even came up with our own formula to sumarize: E=mf² The E stands for Essential Eyewear, the m stands for our memory metal optical frame and the f² is the matching Fitovers™ Eyewear product. Never before have you...

It's heating up!
Our base of operations is down here in Austin TX., so when the hot weather begins to move in we are one of the first to notice, and this past weekend was a hot one.  When the suns’ out and about, constantly reminding us of its presence, it’s easy to remember to put on your shades. The warm weather also invites us to do more outdoor activities.  On Saturday I was outside all day long...

What would Fitovers want with a blog?
Hello all! And welcome to the shiny new Fitovers™ blog. Why would Fitovers™ feel the need to have a blog? you ask. That’s a good question, and one we might not have a good answer for, but I’ll try anyways, for the sake of providing something here to read. You hear about blogs daily, and even though we don’t really understand the phenomenon, we hear that businesses around the...
